UPERC EXTENDS SCOD OF THE PROJECT HAMPERED WITH DELAY IN OBTAINING ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVALS AND OUTBREAK OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC WITHOUT THE LEVY OF LIQUIDATED DAMAGES

As a respite to one of the subsidiaries of Tata Group i.e. Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (“TPREL”), the Ld. Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (“Ld. UPERC”) vide its order dated 01.02.2023, while taking cognizance of the severe impact of cumulative delays suffered by TPREL in obtaining the administrative approvals and on account of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic within the State of Uttar Pradesh, on the timely commissioning of its 25 MW Project set up at District Bunda and 50 MW Project set up at District Prayagraj, was pleased to grant extension in Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (“SCOD”) by 12.5 months i.e. up to 27.11.2021 and 13 months and 22 days i.e. up to 03.01.2022 respectively, without the levy of liquidated damages.
The order comes as a relief to the Generators whose Project timelines have been severally affected on account of delay in granting administrative approvals in addition to the delay due to COVID-19.
